Secrets of successful websites

Upselling - Marketing+

Upselling – Marketing+ a collection of papers from PlannedSites for SME's

"If you don't believe in your product, or if you're not consistent and regular in the way you promote it, the odds of succeeding go way down. The primary function of the marketing plan is to ensure that you have the resources and the wherewithal to do what it takes to make your product work." - Jay Levinson

In your local fast-food outlet they will offer you to “go big” for what seems like a bargain of a lifetime; something like an extra portion of chips for as little as 20p which you (well, not you, we appreciate that) accept with alacrity.

The process is known as upselling in the trade. A more sophisticated form is carried out all the time by a variety of websites such as Ebay or Amazon. The Amazon website is programmed to show you similar products on your way to the pay-out screen. It even remembers you and sends you an email if a book similar to the one you ordered last month is published.

Do the same yourself. When a client comes contacts you treat it as an opportunity to show him new products or services that you have been working on. Use it to question him on how things are going, and see if there are any other areas that you could help out in. That’s extra business gained with little sales effort and no overhead.

Don't be too pushy, but be helpful, after all the product or service that you offer to them could be of real value to the client.
